Aspiring social worker caught drug-driving in Inverness

A budding social worker was caught driving his vehicle in Inverness while having cannabis in his system.
Inverness Sheriff Court heard that 28 year old Steven Watling of Powis Place, Aberdeen, was stopped by police in Thornbush Road on the night of October 21, 2022 .
Fiscal depute Shay Treanor told Sheriff Eilidh Macdonald: "Officers carried out a drug search and found 2.9g of cannabis in the glovebox."

Watling was also tested for drugs and proved positive for cannabis. His reading was 3.9mcg when the legal limit is 2mcg.
He admitted possession of the Class B drug and driving while under the influence of drugs.
He was fined a total of £460 and banned from driving for a year.
Defence solicitor Marc Dickson said his client was on a bursary and is studying with a view to becoming a social worker.
Sheriff Macdonald told Watling: "This was unwise behaviour if you intend pursuing a career in the caring sector or social work."
